Modelages en faïence, utilisation d'engobes cirés, biscuitage et émaillage 

en électrique, assemblages et tissages en coton teinté. Atelier à Rouen.

 

The materials and techniques I use are earthenware modelling, waxed slipware, biscuit firing and enamelling using an electric kiln, assemblages of dyed cotton threads woven or knotted together.

Mon travail de la faïence entremêle trois thèmes principaux :

 

les anatomies qui peuvent être humaines, végétales ou

animales mais aussi imaginées ou monstrueuses.

 

Le temps qui passe et la métamorphose, des thématiques 

illustrées par les déformations, les recherches de matières,

le rythme, la répétition, le mouvement souvent en spirale.

Les photos de végétaux de Karl Blossfeldt ( photographe 

allemand,1865 - 1932 ) et les atlas d'anatomie m'ont 

beaucoup inspiré.

Mes œuvres sont émaillées, avec des contrastes de surfaces

mates et brillantes, des effets craquelés ou cloqués et 

souvent associées à des engobes polis et cirés. 

 

Enfin l'utilisation originale de fils teintés en tissage, me

permet d'assembler en gardant du mouvement (série 

"épine", "rachis","colonne"), et en «toile» à l'intérieur d'une

structure céramique de lier tel un réseau les parties 

intérieures et extérieures de mes sculptures (série "trip", 

"entité").

Je conserve une place à la production de pièces utilitaires, 

support pour mes recherches de matières et d'émaux. 

My work combines three main subjects: “Anatomies”, 

these may be human, animal or vegetal but can also 

incorporate imaginary or monstrous influences. In exploring 

the concepts of “Passing Time” and “Metamorphosis”, I use 

distortion, textures, rhythms, repetitive patterns and 

movement, often using the spiral as a representation of 

these themes.

Sources of inspiration include the work of Karl Blossfeldt 

(German photographer, 1865-1932), in particular his close-up

photographs of plants, as well as anatomical treatises.

The artworks I create are enamelled ceramics, which feature 

contrasts between matt and shiny surfaces, craquelure and

blistering, which I often combine with slip techniques

(polished and waxed). The use of dyed cotton threads woven

or knotted together allows works of complex structures to 

retain movement (c.f. my series “Epine”, “Rachis” and

“Colonne”), whilst webbing techniques create a network 

connecting the inner and outer parts of a sculpture (c.f. my 

series ”Trip” and “Entité”).

I also produce functional objects,which I use as experimental

supports for a wide range of textures and glazing techniques.
